Honduras Country Representative (Consultant)

Emérita Valdez has a degree in Management and Social Development, with a postgraduate degree in “Prevention of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking” from the Institute of Judicial Studies of Nicaragua and the Supreme Court of Honduras. She was born in and lives in Honduras in the port city of La Ceiba and became a Rise Up Leader in 2013. She has worked for 10 years with different organizations and institutions as a specialist in social issues. This has strengthened her commitment and dedication to the most vulnerable, specifically girls and youth in Honduras. As a Rise Up Leader, she implemented a methodology for working with school children between the ages of 10 – 16 years named “I Deserve” which was incorporated in schools in the municipality of Olanchito Yoro, Honduras.

Emérita has been the Country Representative for Rise Up in Honduras since 2016.  She serves as the focal point for the Rise Up Leaders in Honduras in their advocacy work to improve the rights and lives of adolescent girls.  Emérita oversees the implementation and monitoring of our programs in Honduras, provides technical assistance to Rise Up Leaders and grantee organizations in Honduras, and represents Rise Up in national and international spaces. She enjoys sharing her knowledge about different subjects with others and believes in the power of girls to transform their country.
